GoScript Android Privacy Policy

About this policy

This policy applies to GoScript for Android, provided by Sparkwell Studios LLC. Effective October 8, 2026. GoScript does not require an app account and does not display ads. The iOS app and this website have separate disclosures at /privacy.

Scripts, drafts and recordings

Scripts, drafts, imports, reminders and video takes are stored on your device. GoScript does not upload your scripts or recorded video files to our servers. You can export a copy to your gallery, a file provider or another app. Your selected destination then handles that copy under its own policies. Active takes move to Recently Deleted after seven days and are permanently removed seven days later; export the takes you want to keep.

Android backup and device transfer

If Android backup is enabled, Android may back up a logical copy of scripts, drafts and preferences using your operating-system backup service. This is separate from GoScript account sync, which the app does not provide. Video takes are excluded from cloud backup and may be included in supported device-to-device transfer; transfer depends on the device and Android. Purchase identity, optional telemetry consent, analytics queues and the free-assist counter are excluded. Exported copies are your durable backup path for recordings.

Camera, microphone and notifications

Camera access is requested when you enter recording. Microphone access is requested when you enable audio or voice following. You can record an explicitly labeled silent take without microphone permission. GoScript does not record in the background: leaving the app stops capture and attempts to finish the take locally. Notification permission is requested when you set a rehearsal reminder. Reminders and their script titles are local notifications, not server messages.

Voice following and script assistance

Voice following uses bundled Whisper speech-recognition and Silero voice-activity models on the device, with audio from the same microphone input used for capture. Recognition does not require a runtime model download, server transcription or a network speech-recognition fallback. Availability and performance depend on the language, device and operating system; unavailable recognition is labeled and manual or timed scrolling remains available. On supported devices, on-device script assistance uses Google ML Kit and the local Gemini Nano model. Other devices offer labeled Cleanup and cue-card tools. Script text is not sent to a cloud generation API.

Google model diagnostics

Google ML Kit processes text recognition and model assistance on the device, but its Android SDK collects technical usage and diagnostic data for Google. This includes device and app information, installation and other identifiers, configured languages, feature input/output sizes, versions, latency, usage events and error codes. Model and configuration downloads may also contact Google. These technical collections are separate from the contents of your scripts, voice recordings and videos. GoScript’s optional analytics and crash-reporting switches control our PostHog and Sentry transports; they do not disable Google ML Kit SDK diagnostics. Google’s Privacy Policy and ML Kit terms govern its services.

Product analytics

PostHog is the only analytics service. GoScript does not use an advertising ID and does not include advertising or attribution SDKs. Outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, product analytics is on by default. GoScript tells you about it when you first open the app, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings. Events are linked to an installation-specific random identifier and may be grouped into a profile for that identifier. There is no name, email or account. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, by default GoScript sends only anonymous, aggregate usage events. There is no persistent identifier and no profile. Identified analytics, meaning the random identifier and its profile, starts only after you agree in the app. When analytics is on, GoScript sends a small allowlist of feature-use events to PostHog with app version, platform and production classification. We disable automatic interaction capture, session replay and geolocation enrichment. Events do not contain scripts, titles, filenames, file links, audio, video or purchase tokens. Network providers necessarily receive connection information such as an IP address. Turning analytics off stops the optional transport and clears queued analytics and its local identifier.

Optional crash reports

Crash reports are separately off by default. If enabled, GoScript sends sanitized errors to Sentry, including the app version, failure category and selected app-code stack information. Reports exclude exception messages, script text, local paths, screenshots, audio, video and replay. Turning crash reports off stops their transport and clears pending local reports. These controls do not disable the purchase processing needed to check GoScript Pro.

Purchases

Google Play handles payments and payment information. RevenueCat verifies purchase and entitlement information from Google Play using an anonymous app-user identity and purchase records. GoScript does not receive your card details. RevenueCat may process product identifiers, transaction information and entitlement status for validation, restore, support and fraud prevention. GoScript sends your analytics consent status to RevenueCat whether product analytics is on or off. When identified analytics is on, the random identifier used for product analytics is attached to your RevenueCat purchase record so purchase activity can be associated with product usage. In anonymous mode no analytics identifier is attached. When identified analytics is on, purchase events (product, price, currency and dates, but not payment details) may be recorded in product analytics under that identifier. In anonymous mode they are counted only in anonymous, aggregate form. In version 1.1.1 (build 5) and later, turning analytics off stops new analytics collection and requests removal of the linked analytics identifier from the RevenueCat purchase record. GoScript retries failed synchronization; the identifier can remain on the purchase record until synchronization succeeds. In earlier versions, turning analytics off stops new analytics collection, but an identifier linked earlier may remain on the RevenueCat purchase record until you request deletion. Turning analytics back on creates a new random analytics identifier only when identified analytics is on; in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, turning analytics back on returns to anonymous mode unless you have agreed in the app to identified analytics. Opting out does not delete records already transmitted to RevenueCat or other service providers. Purchases and restore are governed by Google Play ownership; an iOS purchase is not promised to unlock Android.

Your choices and retention

You can delete scripts and drafts in the app, move takes to Recently Deleted, export a copy, revoke permissions in Android Settings, and independently disable analytics and crash reporting. Clearing app storage removes local GoScript data; exported copies and operating-system backups are managed by their respective services. Optional local queues are bounded and are removed on opt-out. PostHog, Sentry, Google and RevenueCat operate their own services and retention policies. This policy does not promise that an opt-out removes records already transmitted.

Request data deletion

Email privacy@sparkwellstudios.com with the subject GoScript Android data deletion. Identify that you use GoScript for Android and describe the data you want removed. You can also start the request through Support in the app’s Settings. No GoScript account is required. Do not send scripts, recordings, passwords, payment credentials or purchase tokens. We may ask for limited information needed to locate the correct records. On request, we delete your RevenueCat customer record. Send that request to privacy@sparkwellstudios.com.

What deletion covers

Scripts, drafts and takes are stored on your device. Use the app’s deletion controls or clear GoScript storage in Android Settings to remove local copies. Takes in Recently Deleted remain there until you permanently delete them or their seven-day retention expires. Exported copies, shared copies and operating-system backups are managed separately by their respective apps and services. A support request does not remotely clear your device or remove copies from those destinations.

Provider records and subscriptions

We review requests for records we can identify in our services and service providers. Some pseudonymous diagnostics may not be linkable to you. Records needed for transaction administration, legal obligations or abuse prevention may be retained; we will explain applicable limitations and retention when responding to your request. Google, RevenueCat, PostHog and Sentry have separate retention practices, so there is no single guaranteed deletion period for all provider data. Deleting app data or a purchase-support record does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel subscriptions through Google Play’s subscription settings.

Audience and contact

GoScript for Android is intended for creators and presenters aged 18 and older and is not directed to minors. Do not send us private scripts, recordings or purchase tokens in ordinary support messages. For privacy questions or data-deletion requests, contact privacy@sparkwellstudios.com or use the app’s Support option. Identify that you use GoScript for Android.
